Job Description
Plumber in the Water and Gas Field Services (W&GFS) team reports to the relevant business unit Operations Manager, providing operational and technical expertise in the field. Carrying out water and sewer connections and metering related duties. They will be required to provide direction and support to apprentices and labourers as required. They shall execute all duties in a professional and timely manner with a focus on HSEQ in everything they do.
Key Responsibilities:
- While performing all plumbing activities, maintain a safe working environment by ensuring all works are undertaken in a safe manner and AusNet Services / Mondo policies, procedures, processes and work practices are adhered to at all times.
- Physical presentation (PPE clean and in good condition).
- Ensure a Job Site Analysis (JSA) is completed prior to the commencement of every job till incident investigations as required with compliance to OH&S, codes, Licenses and Regulations.
- Ensure daily pre-start checks are completed on vehicles and plant, report all safety hazards, workplace incidents, and near misses.
- Operate plant and equipment, including but not limited, to excavators, trucks and skid steers.
- Provide technical advice and leadership for members, namely appetencies of the Plumbing team.
- Complete work orders and providing all required information as outlined in the contract specific Standard Operating Procedures;
- Communicating the status of jobs, whilst assisting the Plumbing Manager and Supervisors with identification and implementation of improvement initiatives and prepare nd submit Field Work Procedures.

- Registered Plumber (VBA)
- Construction Induction Card
- Driver’s License
- CPR/First Aid
- Control Electrical Risk on Metallic Pipes
- Heavy Vehicle License*
- Forklift License*
- Spotting for Service Assets*
- Traffic Management – Control Traffic with Stop/Slow Bat*
- Traffic Management – Implement Traffic Management Plan*
- Trench Rescue*
- Trench Shoring*
- Confined space certified*
*Denotes licenses that are dependent on the team/work that the Plumber is working within.
Skills and Experience:
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the Plumbing industry elements, practices and operating procedures.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Code of Practice on Plumbing Safety, instructions, operating principles, procedures and practices.
- Demonstrated commitment to the provision of ongoing excellence in customer service delivery.
- Proven ability to make sound decisions, particularly during periods of high work activity.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Outlook (email).
- Ability to use a mobile computing technology for completing work orders, JSA’s and pre-starts.
- Previous sewer and water, gas, main laying experience.
- Familiarity of Water authorities – Quality Assurance and Field requirements.
- Excellent communication (Verbal & written) and interpersonal skills.
Special Role requirements:
- The incumbent will be required to work between 6.00am to 6.00pm with occasional after hours and weekend work.
- Travel within Victoria may also be required.
- Manual labour, which involves hand digging, working at heights, working in confined spaces and the safe lifting of various equipment.
