Joint Venture Accountant

Work Location: Perth. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Role overview:

In this role you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day finance function including posting journals, reconciling accounts, and supporting financial reporting. You will be working in a dynamic work environment and will need to be able to think on your feet, work with autonomy and take ownership for end-to-end tasks.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Prepare monthly journal entries and assist with period end accounting and management reporting
  • Conducting financial analysis, monitoring, and interpreting financial data
  • Balance sheet reconciliations and investigation of any discrepancies and anomalies that may arise
  • Identifying opportunities and driving change to improve financial systems and reporting within the division and group.
  • Assist with and coordinate capital project close outs
  • Lodgment of ABS statistics and Ad hoc duties and projects as required by Finance

Qualification and Experience: 

  • Accounting degree, working towards CA/CPA
  • Advanced excel skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Enjoy interacting with internal stake holders
  • Experience in SAP
  • Dedication to work in a team environment and strong ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks efficiently
