Project Geometallurgist
Work Location: Perth – Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday
We are looking for a Project Geometallurgist to join our Exploration team and provide metallurgical support and manage geometallurgical activities across Fortescue’s future development projects.
This role is a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual to become a key player within Exploration team for all material characterisation and geometallurgical related studies. Working a Mon-Fri roster in Perth office you will be managing and ensuring all geometallurgical test work programs and activities are conducted to a highest standard.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordination, planning and supervision of all metallurgical testwork program at external laboratories
- Continuous improvement of current processes of metallurgical testing and characterisation programs
- Ensuring effective handover and utilisation of geometallurgical data provided to stakeholders
- Coordinate all geometallurgical activities so that business requirements are prioritised and addressed effectively and efficiently
- Liaise with the geology and mine planning teams and provide support to stakeholders based on operational experience and relevant orebody knowledge through projects and collaboration
- Regular analysis to investigate relationships between key metrics and material characteristics to develop geometallurgical domains
Qualification and Experience:
- Good safety culture and risk perception
- Experience and understanding of processing technologies and equipment
- Tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, Process or Chemical Engineering
- Demonstrated experience in iron ore geometallurgical characterisation
- Demonstrated experience in metallurgical accounting, QA/QC and reporting
- Experience with metallurgical testwork flowsheet design, execution and management
- Strong statistical data analysis and associated tools and computer skills (MS Office)
- Good report writing, effective communication skills and displaying good relations with third parties including commercial labs
- Current WA C-Class driving licence
