Overview
This role leads the end-to-end solutions for data architecture, determining processes and procedures for how we move data around, ensuring flexibility and growth capabilities for both Empirics and its clients. This leadership role includes coaching and embedding best practice in data throughout the organisation.
Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities
Strategic Focus
  • Own and lead the data modelling and governance for Empirics core data platform (CXDH)
  • Plan, design, describe and present end-to-end data solutions to support product growth and enhancement. Consult with clients (new/potential) to discuss and provide appropriate data solutions for product delivery.
  • Identify new product opportunities and areas to innovate to achieve revenue growth for Empirics. Participate in new business process where required.
Operational Management
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications covering data streams, integration, transformation, databases and data platform
  • Data modelling for Empirics core data platform to meet requirement
  • Design technical solutions and write technical specifications for incremental or new business requirements. Provide technical advice to Development & Architecture teams and help direct intelligent design of solutions.
  • Work with Head of Enterprise Architecture to assist implementing new technologies to be used within Empirics’ products and processes
  • Propose appropriate solutions in the early stages of a project, estimating and scoping the effort of work involved. Review customer proposals and business cases to ensure projects can be delivered effectively and successfully transitioned to core business. Attend client meetings and workshops where required.
  • Hands on development using new technologies (e.g. Snowflake) in new product/project development or POC
  • Lead the end-to-end solution/project development to ensure appropriate governance are in place for data modelling and architecture
  • Improve system performance by conducting tests, troubleshooting and integrating new elements
  • Optimize new and current database systems
  • Design conceptual and logical data models for our core data product
  • Analyse requirements and implement framework/governance to enable consistent data integration implementations
People Leadership
  • Mentor members of the team
  • Work closely with delivery teams to govern and define data model/solution
Governance & Risk
  • Adhere to all aspects of the Link Group Code of Conduct and Ethics Policy
  • Follow Empirics development guidelines adhering to documentation, source control and code releases

Experience & Personal Attributes

  • Tertiary qualification in computer science or a related discipline
  • 10+ years of technology industry experience with extensive experience in Data Architect (or Solution Architect)
  • Experience in developing conceptual, logical, and physical data models
  • Strong knowledge of various modelling technique such as Data Vault, Entity relationship and Star schema
  • Have strong technical competency working with Azure cloud platform services and technologies including Azure Architecture, Azure AD, Databricks, Data Lake, Azure Data Factories, Azure DevOps CI/CD, Snowflake
  • Hands on experience developing data solution using SQL, Python, Azure Data Factories, Power, Powershell, Azure DevOps
  • Able to define high level solutions and system architectures and understand how various components of the architecture interact
  • Proven experience designing technical solutions in a rapidly changing environment
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience communicating data architecture designs to both technical staff and non-technical stakeholders/clients
