Job Description
Your part in a changing world
At QBE, our purpose is to enable a more resilient future.
We’re an international insurer and reinsurer with a local presence in 27 countries.
Leveraging our deep expertise and insights, QBE offers commercial, personal and specialty products and risk management solutions to help people and businesses manage risks, build strength and embrace change to their advantage.
We’ve been cultivating resilience since 1886, when our founders started a marine insurance company in Townsville, Australia to give early pioneers a safeguard against uncertainty.
Today, we employ more than 11,600 people around the world, and our product portfolio includes property, motor, crop, energy, marine and aviation insurance.
The opportunity
QBE’s global actuarial and finance community is embarking on a programme of strategic change, with a focus on enhanced insight into business performance and decision-making.
This is a unique opportunity to join QBE’s Group Actuarial team in a non-traditional, forward-looking, business partnering role and to contribute on a wide range of strategic initiatives. You will be involved in global financial impact assessments, support the design and implementation of process and analytics frameworks, support and help enhance QBE’s reporting, assist in development and embedment of Economic Capital Management, and participate in a range of analytics initiatives, including those relating to performance, volatility, capital, reinsurance, planning, risk appetite and stress & scenario analysis. You will interact regularly with the wider QBE finance community, collaborating to develop better insights into business performance and trends.
As the ideal candidate, you will have 2 to 5 years of insurance experience in either an actuarial or a financial analytical role and be keen for your next challenge.
What does success look like?
Success in this role will involve interpreting, analysing, and communicating pragmatic solutions to complex problems in an effective business-focused manner. You will demonstrate a strong interest in developing your knowledge of general insurance, including finance concepts, and show curiosity and courage through providing challenge to assumptions and processes. You will provide strong analytical support to QBE’s global finance and actuarial community in its programme of strategic change.
If this sounds like the role for you and you are up for a unique challenge, we look forward to hearing from you.
