The opportunity

An exciting opportunity has presented itself for an experienced Human Centred Design (HCD) professional to join QBE Insurance in the role of Human Centred Design Practice Manager. In collaboration with stakeholders across the business, this role is responsible for defining and managing the strategic application of HCD capability and methods across QBE, in the context of a large transformation.

This includes:

  • Overseeing the application of HCD within programs of work, delivering quality outcomes from design applications that balance user needs, commercial interests and technology constraints
  • Leading the scoping of HCD engagements through the identification of where and how HCD can be used to address business challenges, in conjunction with stakeholders up to executive level
  • Managing a team of HCD professionals including guidance, direction and mentoring
  • Working with a broader community of design professionals across QBE including CX, UX and UI functions, helping to foster a community of practice and sharing of approaches and frameworks
  • Supporting the incorporation of HCD into an Agile delivery model, helping to structure and deliver an appropriate engagement model with delivery squads and other stakeholders
  • Reviewing and refining existing HCD processes such as agency contracts, risk and control assessments and recruitment
  • Acting as a customer advocate in strategic initiatives and investments including customer strategy, acquisition and joint ventures

 

Your story so far

To be successful in this position, you will demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in applying HCD approaches and methods to business challenges, developing best-practice solutions that align with business objectives. You will have strong project delivery skills, harnessing your ability to direct and collaborate with other individuals to achieve efficient and effective outcomes. Your stakeholder engagement skills will enable you and the team you lead to work with others across the business and foster strong networks and relationships. You will have experience bringing design capabilities to bear in the context of a large transformation, ideally within an Agile delivery environment.
